For this edition of Almabase Spotlights featuring K-12 Schools, we shine the spotlight on Severn School and their initiative to engage their alumni through an array of forums and discussion panels.

💡An Initiative to Create a Meaningful Alumni Network Through Mentorship

The Mentoring Magic campaign at Severn School is an initiative built on the ideology of “Pay It Forward” - extending a helping hand to students and young alumni in need of mentorship. The Alumni House has its doors open to alumni who can find time to mentor current students and young alumni, upholding the Severn tradition. Under this campaign, alumni mentors can conduct several events and lectures ranging from hosting an Independent Senior Project, to recording bite-sized lectures and being a panelist of discussion boards over zoom. These events are helping the students make more informed choices, while building a meaningful alumni community.

Other events in the series include College Curiosity Conversations - A panel where alumni can help students who are considering their college or university for higher education; Zoom Into Our Curriculum - Opportunity to be a guest lecturer over zoom and share knowledge with students on a subject of their choice. Through this initiative, the Alumni House has paved the way for multi-generational engagement while also cultivating a culture of support within the alumni network - the recipe for a truly meaningful community.
