The Hudson School

July 11, 2024

For this edition of Almabase Spotlights featuring K-12 Schools, we shine the spotlight on The Hudson School’s hybrid group exhibition featuring the artwork of their students and local artists. The funds raised during the exhibition helped build a dedicated art studio for the students at the school.

🖌️ An Idea that Drove Engagement by Promoting Local Art

After a long year of staying confined within their homes, the local community of Hudson County was nothing less than elated to have a group art exhibition hosted by a local school in Hoboken. While it gave a much needed platform to the local artists to showcase their artistry, the funds raised were to benefit an art studio for budding artists - a cause that called out to the community and drove engagement. The art studio would serve as a center for both the production and exhibition of art for the students of The Hudson School.

🎨 THS Art-a-thon

Ranging from a display of original art pieces made by the students and local artists, to performances by local poets, musicians and singers, The Hudson School Art-a-thon was nothing short of a perfect artistic relief for its attendants. The exhibition was also coupled with a telethon to help raise funds for the cause. The entire community in the county came forward and donated, from parents buying art-pieces, to alumni, and local aesthetes contributing. They resonated with the idea of building a space for the students to conceptualize and create art outside their classrooms. Within the first couple of hours itself, the event raised over $6,000 and only continued to grow thereafter. The event was certainly successful and part of the applause goes to their constant efforts to engage their alumni and students via virtual events every month. This initiative is a great example of how a genuine cause can bring together a community and make an impact. The best part? The art studio is now ready to host student artists, and act as a home to many more art-pieces for years to come.
