College of Wooster

March 12, 2021

For this edition of Almabase Spotlights featuring Liberal Arts Colleges, we shine the spotlight on how The College of Wooster engaged their alumni community through an interesting virtual trivia campaign.

👥A Virtual Trivia Idea That Engaged Hundreds of Alumni

Shifting from in-person events to virtual ones during the pandemic had become a common challenge for most Liberal Arts Colleges, but the most testing aspect of this transition was the lack of the “fun” element which was naturally present in traditional alumni events. With their Highland Games - Virtual Trivia bracket, The College of Wooster was able to retrieve the fun in virtual events and provide a much needed refresher to its alumni.

💡The Highland Games - Virtual Trivia Campaign

The Office of Alumni & Family Engagement at College of Wooster hosted their first Highland Games - Virtual Trivia segment in July of 2020. The trivia hosted four rounds, with teams of four alumni competing against each other until the champions were crowned and rewarded with Wooster goodies, and as they say - the Highland Glory. The idea was simple, yet refreshing amidst other virtual events. After their first introductory post on Facebook, the College maxed out their bracket with 160 alumni volunteering within a week - deeming the initiative a big hit amongst the alumni community. This initiative was so successful the first time, that it was back by popular demand in November of 2020 by the name - The Highland Games 2.0.

The Highland Games 2.0 was hosted in November 2020, and was greeted with excitement by the alumni community at the College of Wooster.
